  • Wang Wenbin
Wang Wenbin “China is not the creator of or a party to the Ukraine Crisis. We have been on the side of peace and dialogue and committed to promoting peace talks. We actively support putting in place a balanced, effective and sustainable European security architecture. Our fair and objective position and constructive role have been widely recognized. 'Let the person who tied the bell on the tiger untie it,' to quote a Chinese saying. Our message to the US: stop shifting the blame on China; do not try to drive a wedge between China and Europe; and it is time to stop fueling the flame and start making real contribution to finding a political solution to the Ukraine crisis.” 9 hours ago

Korean Central News Agency “On May 17, the North Korean Missile General Bureau conducted a test launch of a tactical ballistic missile equipped with a new navigation system of autonomous guidance. The test launch confirmed the accuracy and reliability of the system. The launch was carried out as part of the regular activities of the North Korean Missile General Bureau and subordinate defense research institutes for the active development of weapons technology.” 9 hours ago
  • Yang Moo-jin
Yang Moo-jin “It is part of North Korea's propaganda approach to develop a voice in global affairs. Kim's statement comes amid Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping holding talks in Beijing, the West pressuring North Korea and Russia with sanctions and South Korea planning to stage Ulchi Freedom Shiled, a joint annual military drill with the U.S. in August. It may be true that North Korea is honing existing weapons to attack Seoul, but we cannot rule out the possibility of the country pulling weapons from its stocks and shipping them to Russia after further testing and deploying.” 9 hours ago
  • Park Won-gon
Park Won-gon “Kim's [Kim Yo-jong syster of the North Korean leader Kim Jong-un] statement suggests that North Korea is concerned about international sanctions. I believe sanctions are still an effective tool. North Korea fears that if it admits its arms dealings with Russia, it may turn its European allies into enemies.” 9 hours ago
  • Kim Yo-jong
Kim Yo-jong “We have no intention to export our military technical capabilities to any country or open them to the public. Our tactical weapons, including multiple rocket launchers and missiles, will be used to prevent Seoul from inventing any idle thinking.” 9 hours ago
  • Frank Kendall
Frank Kendall “China has fielded a number of space capabilities designed to target our forces. And we're not going to be able operate in the Western Pacific successfully unless we can defeat those. China had tripled its network of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance satellites since 2018.” 10 hours ago
  • Ants Kiviselg
Ants Kiviselg “The Russian Armed Forces are advancing on the recently opened Kharkiv front, but their pace is slowing down. This and the nature of their behaviour rather indicate a desire to create a buffer zone. Russian troops have attacked and destroyed important bridges in the area of Vovchansk, which creates a natural barrier between Ukrainian and Russian forces. This is more an indication of the intention of Russian forces to build a defensive line than to create a bridgehead for an advance on Kharkiv.” 19 hours ago
  • Vladimir Putin
Vladimir Putin “Russia is ready and able to continuously power the Chinese economy, businesses, cities and towns with affordable and environmentally clean energy.” 19 hours ago
  • Alexey Muraviev
Alexey Muraviev “There are limits to the two nations' ties, despite their insistence that it is limitless. The limits are that the two countries don't have a formal alliance agreement. To me, that's very clearly a sign that there are limitations to what seems to be a limitless relationship. Neither side is prepared to unconditionally commit to support each other on issues like Ukraine.” 19 hours ago

“While the world agrees on the application of international law and stands by the Palestinian right, America continues to support the occupation, refusing to compel Israel to stop its genocidal war. It provides Israel with weapons and funds that kill our children and destroy our homes, and it stands against us in international forums, in positions that do not serve security and stability in the region. The United States has violated all international laws and abandoned all promises regarding the two-state solution and achieving peace in the region.”

“We can assume that Russia - like almost every warring party - is carrying out so-called screenings: fighters are being arrested, probably also civilians who have worked for the Ukrainian authorities. Both groups are protected under international law, so they may not be tortured or killed, for example. But is this being respected, where do these people end up afterwards? We do not know.”

“To begin with, under international law, humanitarian assistance can't be held hostage to political or military negotiations. All parties have an obligation under international humanitarian law to provide unimpeded access to those in need. There's also no explanation for why the government isn't lifting the blockade on telecom, electricity and banking services. These would alleviate a great deal of the suffering, especially for the working class who can't access their own savings to buy whatever is available in the local market.”

“While the DPRK escalates its destabilizing actions, the Security Council continues to remain silent. Each ballistic missile launch that results in inaction by the council erodes the credibility of the U.N. Security Council itself in addressing the DPRK and undermines the global non- proliferation regime. The United States remained committed to seeking serious and sustained diplomacy with North Korea but Pyongyang had opted instead for an "increasingly escalatory series of ballistic missile launches in total violation of international law. We stand ready to collaborate and determine a mutually agreeable approach with other council members to address the DPRK's provocations.”

“Any person that can use its head understands perfectly well that NATO's expansion was effectively aimed at searching for an enemy. NATO realized that they can't exist without an enemy. By moving their borders to our borders, they were just looking for an enemy, saying that we need to defend against a big threat from the east, we need weapons there, we need to increase military budgets, this is the meaning and purpose of NATO. But at the same time, they created vulnerabilities for themselves. Each expansion of the alliance actually worsened its security. The West imagined itself the winner in the Cold War and decided that it alone could establish its own rules. A rule-based order is not really international law, of course. This is the order that is conceived in Brussels, Washington and other capitals.”

“Tomorrow, the United States will impose sanctions on Russia for this clear violation of international law and Ukraine sovereignty and territorial integrity. We can, will, and must stand united in our calls for Russia to withdraw its forces, return to the diplomatic table and work toward peace.”

“I want to emphasize that the weapons being transferred to Ukraine are defensive and act as a reaction to the deteriorating security situation around this country. The support being extended to the state, which seeks to defend its territorial integrity in line with the fundamental principles of international law, also demonstrates our respect for the European security architecture, which is based on international principles and commitments.”

“The issue of demilitarisation of Aegean islands is being put forward for the first time as a precondition to go to The Hague. It is also being connected to sovereignty for the first time. Turkey is piling on the issues in order to avoid talking about the real issue, which is maritime zones. Turkey has an irregular view of international law, and because it knows it's in a minority of one … it spends its time exerting pressure through power moves.”

“The measure maliciously denigrates the human rights situation in China's Xinjiang in disregard of facts and truth. It seriously violates international law and basic norms governing international relations and grossly interferes in China's internal affairs. China deplores and firmly rejects this.”

“At present, certain international forces under the guise of 'democracy' and 'human rights' are interfering in the internal affairs of China and Russia, and brutally trampling on international law and recognized norms of international relations. China and Russia should increase their joint efforts to more effectively safeguard the security interests of both parties.”

“A key issue is the way that international law draws the difference between an island and just a rock, is whether this piece of territory is capable of sustaining human and economic life of its own. Under international law, statehood is established on the presumption that they will continue to be a state, with stability, a defined territory and population. So, the question remains of whether the Marshall Islands' territorial elements being challenged by sea level rise would lead to any impairment of statehood.”

“The dire situation facing the Afghans on the border is one that the Polish government has created. The declaration of 'the state of emergency' is illegitimate and must be lifted. The situation at the country's borders does not constitute a public emergency by European and international definitions. Forcing back people who are trying to claim asylum without an individual assessment of their protection needs is contrary to international and EU law. The introduction of new laws and measures that attempt to legalize pushbacks do nothing to change that. People have requested asylum in an EU country, an EU member state is blatantly violating their rights and the EU must act swiftly and firmly to call out these flagrant abuses of EU and international law.”

“Today the UN is like a retired superhero who has forgotten what he could do. He considers himself a burden, a weak, frail, useless old man whose life was in vain. [Russia fueling the ongoing war in eastern Ukraine and Russia's occupation of the Crimean Peninsula] Isn't it evidence of an international crime? Isn't it proof of impunity and disrespect for international law? Moreover, the Russian Federation itself officially declares it. And it forces our citizens of Ukraine to take part in the elections to the Russian parliament. And if the UN does not react efficiently and strongly to this, is that proof that it is too late to revive the UN?”

“We are interested in ensuring that international waters are always international waters and international skies are international skies, and that the rule of law applies equally in all of these places. Australia wanted to ensure that there were no no-go zones in areas governed by international law. That's very important whether it is for trade, whether it is for things like undersea cables, for planes and where they can fly. I mean that is the order that we need to preserve. That is what peace and stability provides for and that is what we are seeking to achieve.”
