  • Alon Liel
Alon Liel “The move [Egypt joining South Africa's ICJ genocide case against Israel] is an unbelievable diplomatic blow to Israel. Egypt is the cornerstone of our standing in the Middle East. The connections that Israel has in the Middle East and North Africa today, including with Jordan, the UAE and Morocco, is all a result of what Egypt did 40 years ago. With Egypt joining South Africa now in The Hague, it's a real diplomatic punch. Israel would have to take it very seriously. This is what I have been warning about. It's coming from several directions. Israel has to … listen to the world - not only to the Israeli public opinion asking now for revenge. We have to look overall in the wider picture, in the long-term security of Israel, not only in the next few weeks in Gaza.” 2 hours ago
  • Franz-Stefan Gady
Franz-Stefan Gady “The Russians have understood, just as a lot of analysts have, that the major disadvantage that Ukraine is currently suffering from is manpower. By thinning out the frontline, you are increasing the odds of a breakthrough.” 5 hours ago
  • Oleksandr Syrskyi
Oleksandr Syrskyi “This week, the situation in Kharkiv Oblast deteriorated substantially. Currently, there are continuing battles along the state's border with Russia. The situation is challenging, but the Defence Forces are doing everything possible to maintain defensive lines and positions, resulting in defeat for the adversary.” 5 hours ago
  • John Kirby
John Kirby “It is possible that Russia will make further advances in the coming weeks, but we do not anticipate any major breakthroughs, and over time, the influx of U.S. assistance will enable Ukraine to withstand these attacks over the course of 2024.” 5 hours ago
  • Volker Türk
Volker Türk “I can see no way that the latest evacuation orders, much less a full assault, in an area with an extremely dense presence of civilians, can be reconciled with the binding requirements of international humanitarian law and with the two sets of binding provisional measures ordered by the International Court of Justice.” 5 hours ago
  • Volodymyr Zelenskiy
Volodymyr Zelenskiy “It is important that partners support our soldiers and Ukrainian stability with timely supplies. Really timely. The package that really helps is the weapons brought to Ukraine, not just the ones announced.” 18 hours ago
  • Oleh Syniehubov
Oleh Syniehubov “We clearly understand what forces the enemy is using in the north of our territory. Certainly, the escalation can grow, the pressure can increase, it can strengthen its military units, its military presence. As of now the enemy keeps pressing in the north of our region. Our forces have repelled nine attacks.” 18 hours ago

“Some terms of the contract have not been respected... the company has not been in a position to come up with a reliable strategy to ensure a timely delivery of doses. We want to make sure there is a speedy delivery of a sufficient number of doses that European citizens are entitled to and which have been promised on the basis of the contract.”

“The clots that we see with VIPIT [vaccine-induced prothrombotic immune thrombocytopenia] - they're serious. If you're not aware of them they can be hard to diagnose, they can be hard to treat. If you're older and likely to experience all the other horrible things that COVID does, including killing you, then your decision about urgency and needing any vaccine frankly is really different from somebody who is younger and probably better able to weather the storms of COVID.”

“The UK is proud to have vaccinated many people with the first dose, but they will have a problem with the second dose. And we are fully vaccinated with two doses, not one. Today we have the same number of fully vaccinated people in France and the United Kingdom. A cooperative relationship must be found with the UK so that AstraZeneca fulfils its signed commitments with the EU, but we can't accept any sort of blackmail. The UK is pushing for the first jab, knowing there will be problems with the second one. Europe does not have to pay the price for this policy.”

“Today several Caribbean countries, including Antigua and Barbuda, received 175,000 AstraZeneca vaccines from India. Of the 175,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines, 40,000 were donated to the people of Antigua and Barbuda. For this, we are extremely grateful. PM Narendra Modi has demonstrated perhaps the most significant act of benevolence, kindness and empathy that was seen in recent times compared to any act of any other leader globally.”

“This is very encouraging news. It means more people vaccinated, and sooner. Because for AstraZeneca, just like we were for Pfizer and Moderna, we are ready to get doses rolling. Vaccines will keep arriving faster and faster as we head into the spring.”

“[Even though] we always stated that [our assessment] had nothing to do with the safety of the vaccine [the AstraZeneca vaccine] ... we never criticized the vaccine to be unsafe. We are working quite hard … to try and convince people to accept the vaccine and really to build ... trust in the vaccine among the population.”

“Turning to Covax demonstrates the desperation of the Trudeau government in terms of its vaccine policy. Taking [vaccine supply] from a multilateral institution that was designed particularly to help the world's poor is shocking and an embarrassment.”

“The real problem on AstraZeneca is that it doesn’t work the way we were expecting it to. We’re waiting for the EMA [European Medicines Agency] results, but today everything points to thinking it is quasi-ineffective on people older than 65, some say those 60 years or older.”

“Things are improving step by step, now more than 500,000 people have had the vaccine. If the approvals we expect come through for vaccines developed by AstraZeneca, CureVac or Johnson & Johnson, then in the summer Germany will be able to offer everyone a vaccine. We need patience. We have started the road out of this but a long path lies ahead.”

“It’s very common, actually, and many experts will tell you this. The difference with other vaccine trials is, the whole world is not watching them, of course. They stop, they study, and they restart.”
