  • Volodymyr Zelenskiy
Volodymyr Zelenskiy “There are prospects [for a new Ukrainian counteroffensive]. First and foremost we need to stabilise the situation at the line of contact. As you can see, it is not stable. I would say this: it's their turn now. They need to be stopped, and we will stop them. Then we need the appropriate staffing for the brigades so that they can take the next counteroffensive step.” 4 hours ago
  • Giorgi Revishvili
Giorgi Revishvili “Despite the Georgian Dream having the majority to override the veto, it was important for the president to make the move. The president rightfully said how it [foreign agent's law] is a Russia law and contradicts all of European standards. There is also a fundamental shift in the political landscape with the younger generation becoming increasingly involved in politics. The youth is the driving force behind these protests.” 4 hours ago
  • Salome Zourabichvili
Salome Zourabichvili “Today I set a veto … on the law, which is Russian in its essence and which contradicts our constitution.” 4 hours ago
  • Mohammed Jamjoom
Mohammed Jamjoom “What we're seeing more and more of in the past few days is that there is a huge amount of disagreement amongst war cabinet members about the plan going forward for Gaza. And this echoes also the concerns by US government that has said repeatedly that Netanyahu needs to try to figure out a plan for a post-war Gaza scenario.” 4 hours ago
  • Benny Gantz
Benny Gantz “If you choose to lead the nation to the abyss, we will withdraw from the government [by June 8], turn to the people, and form a government that can bring about a real victory. We did not claim dominance. We did not demand jobs. All we wanted was to serve our country and our people. For many months, the unity was indeed real and meaningful. It prevented serious mistakes, led to great achievements, and returned home over a hundred hostages. Together, we faced the hardships of the campaign, protected the nation with a good and strong spirit - and gave the fighters on the front a feeling of being backed by a shared destiny. But lately, something has gone wrong. Essential decisions were not made. A small minority has taken over the command bridge of the Israeli ship of state and is steering her toward the rocks. I came here today to tell the truth. And the truth is hard: while Israeli soldiers show supreme bravery on the front, some of the people who sent them into battle behave with cowardice and irresponsibility.” 8 hours ago
  • Volodymyr Zelenskiy
Volodymyr Zelenskiy “Let's not forget about other fronts beyond the Kharkiv front: the Kramatorsk, Pokrovsk, and Kurakhove fronts, and the southern fronts; it's tough on all of those fronts, and our forces are fighting back with dignity. I am especially grateful to the soldiers who repelled the Russian assault on Chasiv Yar. Our forces destroyed more than 20 pieces of the occupiers' equipment. Good job!” 8 hours ago
  • António Guterres
António Guterres “The only permanent way to end the cycle of violence and instability is through a two-state solution, Israel and Palestine living side-by-side in peace and security, with Jerusalem as capital of both states.” 10 hours ago
  • Vladimir Putin
Vladimir Putin “Civilians are dying there [on border regions such as Belgorod]. It's obvious. They are shooting directly at the city center, at residential areas. And I said publicly that if this continues, we will be forced to create a security zone, a buffer zone. That is what we are doing.” 12 hours ago
  • John Holman
John Holman “At present Ukraine is outmanned in terms of soldiers in parts of the front line even before the latest Russian attacks. Ukraine said that there were seven Russian soldiers to one Ukrainian soldier, so that's going to put fresh pressure on them.” 12 hours ago

“We can confirm that North Korea has completed an initial arms delivery to Wagner, which paid for that equipment. Last month, North Korea delivered infantry rockets and missiles into Russia for use by Wagner.”

“I have noted those remarks of the US side. We deplore and reject Secretary Blinken's statement. Since China and the US established diplomatic ties in 1979, US administrations, including the current one, have all clearly stated that they would adhere to the one-China policy. The China-US Joint Communiqué on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations and the August 17 Communiqué clearly noted that 'the United States of America recognized the Government of the People's Republic of China as the sole legal government of China, and it acknowledged the Chinese position that there is but one China and Taiwan is part of China.' In the Shanghai Communiqué, the U.S. side also declared that 'The United States acknowledges that all Chinese on either side of the Taiwan Strait maintain there is but one China and that Taiwan is a part of China. The United States Government does not challenge that position.' The US admits that Taiwan is part of China, but keeps talking about the mainland's potential aggression of Taiwan. Isn't this self-contradictory since a country can not 'invade' part of its own territory? The US leadership has stated on multiple occasions that the US does not support 'Taiwan independence'. However, the US side has not stopped selling arms to and having official contact with Taiwan, which have sent wrong signals to 'Taiwan independence' forces. We have this stern warning for the US side: The historical trend of China's reunification cannot be held back, and the one-China principle is what underpins peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait. The US side shall not underestimate the strong resolve, determination and capability of the 1.4 billion Chinese people in defending national sovereignty and territorial integrity. Reneging on the commitment will push Taiwan to dangerous waters and bring unbearable cost to the US itself.”

“Now that Le Pen has lost, Macron will push for a full energy embargo, as he has already said that France doesn't depend on Russian gas. The French president will also build on recent heavy artillery transfers to Ukraine and the 100 million euros [$106m] in arms sent in the first two months of the war. With the election pressure gone, Macron will have more freedom to engage with Putin diplomatically while making French policy towards Russia tougher.”

“Russia's overall policy in the Middle East is to be friends with all, allies of none, enemies of none, so selling arms to Iran might disrupt its efforts to balance closer ties with Israel and the UAE, in particular, as tensions are heightened between these countries and Tehran right now and Saudi Arabia.”

“Russia talks about red lines, but implies Western guarantees of non-deployment of troops and arms in Ukraine, which is equal to admitting that Ukraine is the area of special, if not exclusive, interests of Russia.”

“We took this job knowing the risks. But we need to go to work knowing that we have a government that supports us, that it is looking out for us. That we are given what we need to fight the gangs, better arms, better motorcycles.”

“The United States seriously violates the one-China principle and the provisions of the three China-US joint communiqués, especially the August 17 Communiqué, by selling arms to the Taiwan region. It seriously interferes in China's internal affairs, seriously harms China's sovereignty and security interests, sends out gravely wrong signals to Taiwan independence forces and severely undermines China-US relations and peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait. China firmly opposes it. China urges the US side to fully recognize the very damaging nature of arms sales to Taiwan, abide by the one-China principle and the provisions of the three China-US joint communiqués, stop arms sales to and military ties with the Taiwan region, cancel its arms sales plans to avoid further harming China-US relations and cross-strait peace and stability. China will make a legitimate and necessary reaction in the light of the development of the situation.”

“This includes a credible combat capability and asymmetric warfare capabilities to strengthen our determination to defend ourselves. This shows the importance attached by the United States to security in the Indo Pacific and Taiwan Strait. We will continue to consolidate our security partnership with the United States. We will not engage in an arms race with the Chinese Communists. We will put forward requirements and build fully in accordance with the strategic concept of heavy deterrence, defending our position and defensive needs.”

“What can be inferred about the purported strength of Canada's export controls if Saudi Arabia is deemed an eligible recipient? Who would Canada not export to? Because Saudi Arabia sets the bar exceptionally low. Canada joined the ATT [United Nations Arms Trade Treaty] with promises of increased rigour and transparency around arms exports, but its determination to continue arming Saudi Arabia is turning those promises to empty rhetoric.”

“A choice between freedom and tyranny [extending the arms embargo on Iran]. We have an obligation to protect the Arab countries, to protect Israel, to protect the European countries. Russia and China – they, too, do not want Iran to have access to nuclear weapons. We all are aware of that.”
