  • Yair Lapid
Yair Lapid “This government has to choose: return the abductees alive, or Ben Gvir and Smotrich, relations with the Americans or Ben Gvir and Smotrich, the Saudi deal or Ben Gvir and Smotrich, Israel's security or Ben Gvir and Smotrich.” 6 hours ago
  • Dmitry Peskov
Dmitry Peskov “On the Ukrainian side, the panic is growing on the frontline. And this is first-hand information that there, on that side, the panic is growing. It is very important for us now to maintain this dynamics. It is very important not to stop and continue fulfilling [the tasks of the special military operation].” 9 hours ago

Oleksandr Syrskyi “In general, the enemy achieved certain tactical successes in these areas [villages of Berdychi and Semenivka, north of Avdiivka, and Novomykhailivka, near the town of Maryinka], but could not gain operational advantages.” 9 hours ago

“The excuse for the boycott is false. China has released more and more facts to respond to the stigmatization. Two or three months later, those Westerners who are keen to stigmatize China will get bored, and their lies will become even less convincing. Not many countries would follow the US, if it really tries to boycott the game. To persuade liars is not the job of the victim of stigmatization or 'big lie diplomacy'. If the US and a few countries dare to boycott the Olympics next year, China doesn't need to waste time to change their minds. They will find themselves isolated in the international community, and the athletes of their countries will be the victims. The boycott will also be criticized by the International Olympic Committee, and will be seriously retaliated against by China.”

“Such an action [the imposition of sanctions that the editor of the Global Times tweets saying that China will take against any country which boycotts the Winter Olympic games] would be an act of international bullying, and immensely damaging to China's standing in the world. I urge you to clarify immediately the position of the Chinese government on this sanctions threat. It is why I believe Britain and our athletes must not take part in the Winter Olympics in China. If we did, knowing what we know, our presence would be seen as cover for a Chinese government committing genocide against its own people. No country wants to pull their athletes out of such major international sporting occasions, but we cannot compromise when it comes to crimes of this nature.”

“Boycotting 2022 Beijing Winter Games, an unpopular idea, won't receive wide support. IOC [International Olympic Committee] and athletes will both oppose it, and China will seriously sanction any country that follows such a call.”

“All five categories of genocide behaviour, according to the Genocide Convention, are already in play in Xinjiang province. So I think it's just extraordinary that the British government seems to have no backbone about it. I just can't see why anybody would want to go to the Winter Olympics in Beijing. And I think the British Olympic Association should be calling for the Winter Olympics to move, and if it doesn't move, then we should be boycotting it.”

“The evidence that a genocide is now occurring in western China is so clear that the UK and the whole world must now stand up to Beijing and use every available tool to stop it. No doubt we will hear teams, sponsors and governing bodies say the Olympics and Paralympics should be separate from politics and that they are just concentrating on sport. But in the face of genocide, that just isn't good enough. The 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games will be used as a propaganda tool for a regime committing genocide. Team GB, ParalympicsGB and the government have a moral responsibility to consider if sending a team to these Games is really the right thing to do.”
