Lauren Easton “The Associated Press decries in the strongest terms the actions of the Israeli government to shut down our longstanding live feed showing a view into Gaza and seize AP equipment. The shutdown was not based on the content of the feed but rather an abusive use by the Israeli government of the country's new foreign broadcaster law. We urge the Israeli authorities to return our equipment and enable us to reinstate our live feed immediately so we can continue to provide this important visual journalism to thousands of media outlets around the world.” 44 minutes ago
  • Itamar Ben-Gvir
Itamar Ben-Gvir “Israel should be the one that controls the Gaza Strip, unequivocally, and no one else. Most important is encouraging voluntary emigration of Palestinians from the enclave. Israel could then facilitate the return of settlements. I would love to live in Gaza if possible.” 1 hour ago
  • Donald Tusk
Donald Tusk “An attempt to show that the prime minister of Israel and the leaders of terrorist organisations are the same, and the involvement of international institutions in this, is unacceptable.” 1 hour ago
  • Volodymyr Zelenskiy
Volodymyr Zelenskiy “They [the Russian side] are always blocking everything, they will undermine the process, and they won't rest until they present us with their own plan for ending the war, which will inevitably be an ultimatum, as we have seen on many previous occasions. We can't hand the initiative over to them [...] Our agenda can't be dictated by Russia. This is a war against us, so there is justice in this. The goal of the summit is to come up, between Ukraine and its allies, with a joint stance on three key questions - and then to inform Russia of their position. If all countries support these three points, as I said, then a detailed step-by-step plan will be developed and presented to Russian representatives across different platforms that different countries have [...] Then Russia will have to contend with most of the world.” 1 hour ago
  • John Holman
John Holman “Few question his ongoing legitimacy and he [Zelenskyy] remains popular. Although lower than before, his approval rating's still above 60 percent. Many Ukrainians also feel an election would be unrealistic and disrupt the war effort. In a poll this March [2024], 78 percent of those asked said they were against elections before the end of the war. But in addition to that there's also the practical difficulties. Some Ukrainian towns are in ruins. Many power plants have been hit so there's rolling blackouts. And perhaps most importantly, there's 8 million people displaced, 5 million outside the country.” 1 hour ago
  • Janet Yellen
Janet Yellen “U.S. and European support for Ukraine has been essential for Ukraine's resistance to Russia's invasion. And let me be clear: It is also critical for the security of the American and European people. If we stand by as dictators violate territorial integrity and flout the international rules-based order, they have no reason to stop at their initial targets. They will keep going. The U.S. and Europe must show that Russia cannot outlast their resolve to defend a rules-based order that took them decades to shape. This includes the need to crack down on Russian sanctions evasion and provide Ukraine the funding to equip its military, fund critical government services and ultimately rebuild once the conflict ends. That's why I believe it's vital and urgent that we collectively find a way forward to unlock the value of Russian sovereign assets immobilized in our jurisdictions for the benefit of Ukraine. This will be a key topic of conversation during G7 meetings this week.” 22 hours ago
  • Antony Blinken
Antony Blinken “We reject the prosecutor's equivalence of Israel with Hamas. It is shameful.” 22 hours ago
  • Joe Biden
Joe Biden “The ICC prosecutor's application for arrest warrants against Israeli leaders is outrageous. And let me be clear: Whatever this prosecutor might imply, there is no equivalence - none - between Israel and Hamas. We will always stand with Israel against threats to its security.” 22 hours ago
  • Volodymyr Zelenskiy
Volodymyr Zelenskiy “Western allies are taking too long to make key decisions , opens new tabon military support for Ukraine. Every decision to which we, then later everyone together, comes to is late by around one year. Russians are using 300 planes on the territory of Ukraine. We need at least 120, 130 planes to resist in the sky. You can't provide that right now? OK ... returning to the planes that you have on the territory of neighbouring NATO countries: raise them up ... shoot down targets, protect civilians. Can they do this? I'm sure that yes. Is this an attack by NATO countries, involvement? No.” 22 hours ago

“We call on all external parties, to include Russia, Turkey and the UAE, to respect Libyan sovereignty and immediately cease all military intervention in Libya. Per the October ceasefire agreement, we call on Turkey and Russia to immediately initiate the withdrawal of their forces from the country and the removal of the foreign mercenaries and military proxies that they have recruited, financed, deployed and supported in Libya.”

“The planned troop withdrawal deadline was a sovereign Libyan decision that was taken by general officers who report to their chains of command and to their respective commanders in chief that signed off on the ceasefire agreement. Clearly if mercenaries remain on Libyan soil, they are denying the will of the Libyan people. So if the governments or countries that somehow facilitated the bringing in of these mercenaries to Libya, if they now refuse to withdraw them, they are essentially denying Libyan sovereignty. The question then becomes: how can you describe yourself as a friend of Libya if you are thwarting the will and request of the Libyan officials themselves? It’s not rocket science. If foreign troops were flown in, they can be flown out.”

“I am honoured to be among you today to witness a moment that will go down in history. The road was long and difficult at times. Your patriotism was your way forward and you were able to reach a ceasefire agreement. Today is a good day for the Libyan people.”

“I don’t want to poo poo these efforts – Stephanie Williams has done a great job – but what she’s really achieved is seizing the optics for the UN, and that’s great because it puts the primacy of the UN track over Russian and Turkish tracks. So good on her”

“The initiative that al-Sarraj signed is for media marketing. There is a military build-up and the transfer of equipment to target our forces in Sirte. If al-Sarraj wanted a ceasefire, he would have drawn his forces back, not advanced towards our units in Sirte.”

“I think this is the first time in the entire Libyan conflict whereby we have military stalemate, the military dynamics are equal. This time as a result of Turkish intervention, the western side, the GNA ... has enough power to prevent Haftar from marching westwards. This ceasefire has a very good chance of lasting because the cost of a potential battle is so high and if an individual faction decides to launch a battle by itself it would find itself obliterated. Now, we are seeing a new phase in the negotiations between Turkey and the other foreign powers. All the dynamics suggest that all the foreign powers prefer some sort of peace at least for the foreseeable future.”

“I've been speaking to [GNA, Government of National Accord] military leaders here on the ground and they've told me that yesterday they made significant gains. They have entered the western gates of Sirte ... and are in control of this area. They have also entered Wadi al-Jarf, which is in the south of Sirte. From what our sources tell us, many forces loyal to Haftar have withdrawn to eastern Libya, but there is a force that remains in Sirte. And whether or not they will continue the battle we will have to find out.”
