Amichai Chikli “The US is not projecting strength under [Biden's] leadership, and it's harming Israel and other countries. He said 'Don't' at the start of the war - to Hezbollah, as well as Iran. We saw the result. If I were an American citizen with the right to vote, I'd vote for Trump and Republicans.” 5 hours ago
  • Nikolay Mitrokhin
Nikolay Mitrokhin “The return of Crimea is absolutely unrealistic. Before the failure of Ukraine's counteroffensive last summer there was a chance to return the annexed peninsula had Ukrainian forces reached the Azov Sea and started shelling the Crimean bridge and the Kerch Strait that divides the Azov and Black seas. But now it's hardly real to penetrate Russian defence farther than the takeover of the Kinburn peninsula.” 5 hours ago

“Despite everything that has been done to reach a consensus … it has not happened. The fragmentation of the political forces and conflicts between the [military and civilian] components of the transition. Sudan is crossing a dangerous turning point that threatens its whole survival.”

“Márki-Zay has not yet boosted support for the opposition, with most polls showing a tight race. The situation is worse than opinion polls suggest as the redrawing of electoral districts by Fidesz has given the ruling party an advantage. The united opposition should win at least 3 to 5% more votes to get a majority mandate in the Hungarian national assembly. That's a huge difference and we don't see this advantage in the polls yet. The political race isn't taking place on an even playing field; it's heavily tilted to Orbán. The integrity of the 2022 election will be even worse than in 2014, or 2018, which were free but not fair. It's already a dirty contest and it will be a huge task for the opposition to win.”

“He [Péter Márki-Zay] is a statesman, he is not the kind of guy who wants to be a politician just for the sake of politics… You can see it in his eyes that he has determination to change the system for the good. He's a conservative, I'm a liberal [libertarian]. He's very religious, I'm not, but we both believe Hungary isn't democratic now.”

“After 16 years it's the first time the opposition has a real chance to win. Nobody expected the left and centre parties who dominated the opposition could be led by an outsider coming from the right. One of his [Péter Márki-Zay] super-powers is that he can't be blamed as the puppet of the past leftist parties, or the ex-prime minister Ferenc Gyurcsány. Now we can see that the Fidesz propaganda machine is confused. [Márki-Zay] is not a liberal intelligentsia, he seems to be much more like a Fidesz member.”

“His extremely cursory mention of inter-Korean relations and foreign policy indicates that North Korea was not ready to come out for contacts with South Korea or the United States in the new year. Faced with the pandemic, North Korea is expected to continue to keep its borders shut, focusing on self-reliance and conducting only the minimum of essential trade with China.”

“Regrettably, the rapid changes in society and worsening environment for media make us unable to achieve our goal fearlessly. Amid this crisis, we have to first make sure everyone on the boat is safe.”

“Dodik survives on conflict. He hates stability because he then has to explain why we are living like we do. Mr. Dodik plays on the emotions of his people and doesn't care about the consequences.”
